Saturday's Amazing Sunset

I hope you were able to catch Saturday's amazing sunset! I was on my way home from Sully's Silent Auction when the sky cleared a bit from all the rain and the sun showed its brilliant colors. I was on the George Washington highway looking for a clear view of sunset. I finally found a spot in Deep Creek that looks over a stretch of water. I did a mad U-turn and parked illegally on private property. I don't think the Ruritans minded. That's the first photo. I didn't have my telephoto lens, otherwise I would have zoomed in on the geese in the foreground.

I thought I was done. But when I got home, the colors deepened and the clouds developed more shape. I kept watching the sunset in the rear view and side mirror, but my neighborhood just isn't that photographic to me. But, I really wanted a great photo...so I ran down the street to get rid of the lamp lights and this is what I came up with.  Sometimes, we photographers live tortured lives, not being able to be at the right place to capture the beauty we see. But, I have now recorded the sunset and can always enjoy it. I hope you do too!

A Spring State Of Mind

I know it was cold today...but all the signs are there. Spring is just around the corner. My daffodils are up, the tree in the backyard is blooming and the birds are out enjoying our bird feeders.  We have about six bird feeders that feed three different types of wood peckers, cardinals, house finches, a nuthatch, lots and lots of doves, gold finches and when spring gets here we'll have purple martins and blue birds. The cardinals were being a bit elusive today...they must have sensed the camera.

I love watching them in the morning as I drink my first cup of coffee.  I switch my gaze between the birds and my freshly cut daffodils.  I really didn't want to cut them, but how else was I supposed to represent how beautiful they are? They just may be my favorite flower.

Impressions Of Spring

I love flowers! Their colors, lines, textures and patterns. I love them.  I would have fresh flowers in every room of my house if I could. And, acres of gardens!

Every year about this time I venture out to my backyard to see what spring has brought me. I find wonderful things like dew drops on spider webs, budding flowers and baby birds.  As I wandered around this year with my camera, I found a whole rainbow of flower colors.  I think most of the rainbow is represented in the photo gallery.  Not all of the flowers I found were in my yard, some were in my neighbor's yard. Kay is a wonderful gardener and spend hours giving me a great view out my front window.  Thanks, Kay!
